Dr. Syed Faraz Kazim is a neuroscientist and neurosurgery resident physician at The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. He received his M.D. degree from Aga Khan University in 2008. He has also served as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and as a Fellow in Translational Neuroscience at New York State Institute for Basic Research. Dr. Kazim then pursued his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from The State University of New York in 2017. He was a member of the SUNY Downstate Biotech and Pharma Club and the SUNY Downstate/NYAS STEM Teaching program. He also received the May Kin Ho and Daniel Dean Travel Award for Best Platform Presentation at Annual Research Day.
Dr. Kazim also served as a member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Society. Following his Ph.D., Dr. Kazim completed a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurobiology and Neurosciences at Rockefeller University and a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neurobiology and Neurosciences at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2020. Dr. Kazim is currently completing his residency training in Clinical Neurosurgery at The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the Journal of Neuroscience, Scientific Reports, and Nature Communications. Dr. Kazim’s diverse educational and clinical experiences have provided him with a unique perspective and skill set. His contributions to the field of neuroscience and neurosurgery have been recognized through various awards and honors, and he is widely respected for his expertise and dedication.
