Chohan, M. Omar

M. Omar Chohan is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, with joint appointments in Neurology and Radiation Oncology. He is the director of the Neurosurgical Oncology program at UMMC Cancer Institute. His areas of expertise include complex primary and metastatic brain tumors and epilepsy surgery. He also leads the adult surgical epilepsy program at the UMMC Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. He graduated from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan, in 2002. Following graduation, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the New York State Institute for Basic Research and continued as a research scientist in Neurochemistry and Neuroimmunology. He completed Neurosurgery training under Dr. Howard Yonas at the University of New Mexico in 2014, followed by fellowship training in Neurosurgical Oncology under Dr. Phil Gutin, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, U.S.A.
