M. Omar Chohan graduated from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan in 2002. He spent the next 5 years at the New York State Institute for Basic Research, initially as a postdoctoral fellow and then as a research scientist in the Neurochemistry and Neuroimmunology lab. He was awarded the “World Association of Alzheimer’s Disease Scientists Award” (WAADS) in 2005 for his work on small molecule development to enhance neurogenesis.
Dr. Chohan started his neurosurgery residency at the University of New Mexico in 2008. In 2015, he completed his fellowship training in Neurosurgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, U.S.A. In 2020, he joined the University of Mississippi Medical Center with joint appointments in Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Radiation Oncology.
