
Shahier Paracha is a final-year medical student at the Aga Khan University. He joined AKU after completing his Honours Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Neuroscience, at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with distinction. He worked as a research assistant at the Alain Lab at the University of Toronto, where he worked on neurophysiological projects related to executive function decline in mild cognitive impairment. He has been actively involved in neurosurgical research at AKU as well as with national and international institutes. He is currently the President of the Neuroscience Interest Group (NSIG), a student-led initiative of PANS aimed at promoting student involvement in neuroscience nationally, with an extensive ambassador network that has now expanded internationally. He is also currently working on a textbook pertaining to the essentials of neuroscience. He hopes to pursue a career as an academic neurosurgeon.
